Explanation: A cyclone named ‘Cyclone Mora’ hit the southern coastal areas of Bangladesh on the morning of 30 May 2017. It made landfall near the southeastern tourist city of Cox’s Bazar and the seaport city of Chittagong.
– It mainly battered refugee camps where hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar have taken refuge from violence at home, as authorities moved at least 350,000 Bangladeshis out of harm’s way. Mora is expected to dissipate, turn into a deep depression and affect Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh in India.
– The ‘Cyclone Mora’ is the name suggested by Thailand. Phailin, the cyclone that hit Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast in 2013, was also named by Thailand. ‘Mora’ is a Thai word, which means ‘star of the sea’. The practice of naming cyclones began years ago in order to help identify them as the technical terms are hard to remember.

Explanation: Manuel Antonio Noriega was a military dictator of Central American country Panama from 1983 to 1989. After years of power struggle, in 1983 he became General and the de facto ruler of Panama. His tenure as the head of intelligence was marked by intimidation and harassment of opposition parties and their leaders.
– He was a onetime ally of the United States but was deposed from power by the same country during the invasion of Panama in 1989. He was captured, detained as a prisoner of war, and flown to the United States.
– Noriega was tried on eight counts of drug trafficking, racketeering, and money laundering in April 1992. On 16 September 1992, he was sentenced to 40 years in prison, which was later reduced to 30 years. His sentence ended in September 2007. He died on 29 May 2017 in Panama City. He was 83.
